About Klia Bassing, MBA, MPP
In the year 2000, out of control emotional eating sent me on a physical, emotional, and spiritual odyssey. Fast forward to today, and the urge to eat emotionally can still surface, but it's more like a kitten's mew rather than a lion's roar! And, rather than the shame I used to feel about such urges, I now know it means that a small scared part of me needs wise compassionate support. I now know that such wisdom and compassion are always here and natural--a presence that's simultaneously "me" and "not me". I was so struck by the improvements in self-esteem and contentment that I left my career in international development at the World Bank in 2004 to share with others what had helped me. For fifteen years, I taught mindfulness at multinational banks, U.S. government agencies and organizations, law firms, and private sector corporations. I've worked with thousands of people and been featured internationally by the Agence France-Presse, NBC, ABC, NPR, The Washington Post, and TEDx. I now facilitate individuals and international online groups in the arts of emotional healing, intuition, and awakening. For six years I was on the faculty of an international certification program for mindfulness teachers, and now directly train therapists, coaches, and spiritual teachers through the organization I founded: Facilitators' Collective for Awakening and Mindfulness. |
